Doonbeg Golf Club-Golf in Clare..
First opened in 2002, Doonbeg Golf Club is found in the Shannon Region of County Clare, in the west of Ireland. Just a 40 minute drive from Shannon International Airport, the course is set along one and a half miles of beach, on the county's rugged Atlantic coastline, and offers unparalleled views of the Ocean and the Skivileen River. It is situated on the picturesque Doughmore Bay.
World-famous champion golfer Greg Norman meticulously designed the course. Indeed it is the only course in Ireland and the British Isles to bear his name. Doonbeg is an 18-hole, par 72, championship links course, set on beautiful grassy dunes, spanning over 6885 yards. Sixteen of the tees offer breathtaking views of the Atlantic Ocean, as do all of its fairways and greens. On a clear day it is possible to see a far as the Cliff's of Moher, one of Clare's most famous attractions.
There is a driving range, putting green and well-stocked pro shop available on-site. Caddies and trolleys are both available for hire, but the course does not permit golf carts. The Doonbeg clubhouse is currently under construction, but a temporary building is currently available. The new clubhouse will offer private dining, locker rooms, a billiards room, a bar, a spa and luxury suites.
