Dromoland Castle Golf and Country Club is located just outside the town of Newmarket-on-Fergus, in County Clare, on the west coast of Ireland. The course is set against the backdrop of the 16th century Dromoland Castle, one of the world's finest castle hotel properties, and is located just 8 miles from Shannon International Airport and 7 miles from Limerick city. First opened in 1961, the course was recently overhauled and redesigned in 2002, by renowned American golf architect, Ron Kirby, who was aided by JB Carr. It is a traditional 18-hole, par 72, championship parkland course, set out over 6845 yards, with some fine marsh, lake and woodland hazards. The new design ranks the course alongside the best in the country and offers a challenging round to golfers of all abilities, from the seasoned professional to the recreational player, amid the rugged surroundings of the Clare countryside.
The clubhouse offers both locker room and gym facilities, as well as a health club with a Jacuzzi, sauna, swimming pool and spa. There is fine dining available in the Fig Tree restaurant, while the club bar offers a relaxing place to drink and reflect on the days play. Club, trolley, shoe and cart hire are all available on-site.
