Golf in Dublin at Luttrellstown Castle Golf Course which is located in Clonsilla, in north west County Dublin. It is just six miles from Dublin's city centre. Situated on the walled-in grounds of the 15th century Luttrellstown Castle, the course spans some 560 acres of lush parkland. The castle is currently undergoing a complete restoration and will re-open as a luxury hotel in 2006.
The course itself is an 18-hole, par 72, parkland course, spanning some 7021 yards. Its surroundings are really quite unique and offer the visitor an unparalleled golfing experience. From the fairway of the 12th hole, there is a perfect view of the magnificent 600-plus-year-old castle. Alongside the 8th and 9th holes is a picturesque glen, and from the 10, 11th and 12th holes there is an incredible view of a lake and a majestic 18th century stone bridge.
Luttrellstown Castle Golf Course is beautifully maintained and is renowned for its immaculately kept greens. The course is laid out in such a way, as to suit the abilities of golfers of all levels. The medal tees offer the novice a challenging but manageable round, whereas the championship stakes offer a test to even the most seasoned professional. Indeed, the latter has attracted the 1997 Guardian Irish Ladies Open, brining some of the best players from all over the world. The course also offers club, caddy and buggy hire, as well as some very fine practice facilities. There is also a bar and restaurant on-site.
