Knockanally Golf Club-Golf in Kildare..
Knockanally Golf and Country Club is located in north County Kildare, just 24 miles west of Ireland's capitol, Dublin. Founded in 1985, the club stands on some 125 acres of land. Uniquely, its owner and manager Noel Lyons designed the championship course. It has since hosted the Irish International Professional Matchplay Championship and the Irish Club Professional Championship.
Knockanally is an 18-hole, par 72, championship parkland course, spread out over some 6424 yards of Kildare woodlands and countryside. Water comes into play on no fewer than eleven holes. Christy O'Connor Snr is quoted to have said that Knockanally has the most difficult opening hole in Irish golf.
The clubhouse is house in a beautiful 19th century Palladian mansion (that is subject to a preservation order) and offers stunning panoramic views of the course. There are two bars to avail of inside, both renowned for their hospitality and exquisite service. There is also a restaurant, which offers an extensive menu throughout the day, including lunch dinner and assorted snacks. Other services available on-site include a driving range, a putting green, hire service and a well-stocked pro shop. Tuition is available from Martin Darcy, the Club's PGA Professional.
Kildare is famous for its contribution to Irish Horse-racing, and Knockanally Golf and Country Club is located within visiting distance of the National Stud.
