Glasson Golf Club-Golf in Westmeath Ireland..
Glasson Golf and Country Club is located near the town of Athlone, in County Westmeath, an inland county in the south of Ireland. Situated on Lough Ree, it is truly in the heart of the Irish midlands. The origins of the land on which the club is built date back to the 14th century. The clubhouse building was built in 1780 and the club itself was founded in 1993.
Glasson Golf Club is an 18-hole, par 72, championship parkland course, spread out over 7000 yards of lakeside, Westmeath land. Christy O'Connor Jnr, who is arguably Ireland's most-famous professional golfer and leading golf course architect, designed the course. It is set on a peninsula bordering Lough Ree, which surrounds the course on three sides. Glasson is fast becoming one of Ireland's most popular parkland courses and Bord Failte recently choose it as one of its top five golf courses in the country.
There is a hotel on the golf course that offers luxury accommodation. The 18th century clubhouse has full catering facilities open all day. Hire of clubs, carts, trolleys and caddies are available too. The course also has a 3-hole Golf Academy, to help you brush up on your skills and a golf clinic is also on-site.
