Maynooth hotels are limited to one, the Glenroyal Hotel. This, perhaps, reflects the character of a town which until recently has been known primarily as the location of one of the country’s finest universities, NUI, Maynooth and St Patrick’s Seminary. The Glenroyal offers a great range of facilities from a leisure centre to the nightclub and restaurant. Its singular status in the town is reflected in the friendly atmosphere and courteous staff. However, more hotels in Maynooth may be required in the future, as the town now seems to be enjoying a higher profile.

The Curragh hotels are all dominated by one thing; their proximity to the world-famous racecourse. Physically located hotels in the Curragh are limited to one, the Standhouse Hotel, which is located directly opposite the course. Other hotels, such as the Keadeen Hotel, are located in nearby towns though are still noteworthy for their convenience to the Curragh. Whether you require elegant surrounds, gym facilities, conference rooms or top class restaurants you will find a hotel to suit your needs.
The Curragh hosts a number of race meetings every year and is renowned as the premier flat racing location in Ireland.

A family-run hotel, it has combined this intimacy with modern facilities such as a conference and leisure centre.
Newbridge, itself, is a town on the up. Ideally located to enjoy horseracing at the nearby Curragh it also has a personality all of its own. Grafton Street is Dublin’s Principal shopping street on the south side of the city. It runs from College Green to St. Stephen’s green. It has been a pedestrian area since the eighties apart from the intersection of Nassau Street where the Trinity College Provost’s house and the Bronze of Molly Malone lodge. It is among the most expensive streets for retail site rent in Europe while certain prestigious locations hold the world record. It is the site of two of Dublin’s landmark retailers, Brown Thomas and Weirs. The former is a department store that moved from its original location across the street to occupy the larger Switzer’s building and the later is a famous jeweller. This town of twenty thousand inhabitants is part of the county of Kerry and is situated at the neck of the Dingle Peninsula. The main street in the town is a wide Georgian Street named Denny Street after Edward Denny who owned the town in the late sixteenth century. At the end of the street is the Ashe Memorial Hall dedicated to Thomas Ashe founder of the Irish Volunteers. In the centre of the street is the Croppy Boy Pike man monument. The town is best known for its ‘Rose of Tralee’ festival held each August while surrounding attractions are Brandon Mountain and the dolphin that inhabits Dingle Bay.

Cork City is considered the second city in the county of Ireland. It is in the south west of the country and lies across the river Lee. The city has some monuments and indeed boasts the tallest building in the Republic, County Hall Tower. The city’s most famous building is the Shandon Church Tower and the City Hall was funded by the British Government after the War of Independence. The main shopping street is Patrick Street that starts at Patrick Street Bridge and is mostly pedestrian. Following on from here is Grand Parade where most of the financial institutions are housed in some spectacular Georgian buildings of which the most impressive is the Allied Irish Bank.

Some of the Theatre companies are also here with the remainder of them on East Essex Street. It is bisected by the river Liffey.South of the river is Trinity College and the Temple Bar cultural area. Continue around the college to Kildare Street where the National Art Gallery lies and further on the National Museum of Ireland. Some of the most impressive Georgian buildings are here and around Stephen’s Green at the top of the Grafton Street shopping area. Following the road the leads out from Trinity College leads to the oldest building in Dublin, the noted Christchurch Cathedral that dates to the eleventh century and contains crypts that are older than the church.
