Knocktopher hotels may be seen as the poorer cousin of its more popular Kilkenny City accommodation but it does still have a lot to offer. The Hotels in Knocktopher are limited to Carrolls Hotel yet as a new establishment it reflects the need for a hotel in a town which has only recently been discovered by the tourist population. Carroll’s is family-run with a three-star rating and also offers self-catering apartments. A bar and ballroom are also located here. Knocktopher is a charming village with a past dominated by religion. The Carmelite order was established here and buildings associated with this history can still be seen. It is set in beautiful gardens and has a spa and leisure centre. Castleconnell is a picturesque village with a laid-back way of life. Fishing is a popular activity for tourists. The Courtenay Lodge Hotel may be the only hotel in Newcastle West but it still seems to strive to offer the best service possible. It has a three star rating with traditional style furnishings inside. Its restaurant is also popular and reasonably priced. Newcastle is primarily known for its dairy farming but it does have much to offer any visitor. It has an interesting history with its castle remaining intact. The one hotel in Templeglantine is the Devon Inn Hotel. This is a three star hotel with sixty rooms available. Though traditional in character it does have every modern facility. It houses both a lounge and pub and has a restaurant and garden. It also plays host to both weddings and conferences. Templeglantine is a medium sized town located six miles from Newcastle West. It enjoys some beautiful scenery, which can be appreciated by partaking in the Southern Walking Trail. Adare hotels are plentiful so you should have no problem in selecting one which meets your requirements. However, booking in advance is recommended, as hotels in Adare tend to reach capacity in peak seasons. The most luxurious of Adare hotels is the Adare Manor Hotel complete with golf course, spa and equestrian centre. You will find, though, that all hotels in Adare are of good quality. All come with a minimum three star rating. Adare is a picturesque thatched village. You will feel you have stepped back in time with its medieval churches and Tudor-style houses. The choice between the two hotels in Castlerea can be made based on the convenience of their location to your travel needs. Of the two Castlerea hotels, Tully’s is more centrally located in the town itself. It is small and family run and offers traditional food. However, the White House Hotel, though located outside the town, is a more modern affair with a bijou restaurant and conference facilities. Castlerea is a small town with beautiful scenery with wooded areas and the River Suck nearby. The Abbey Hotel is the only hotel in Roscommon Town. As a moderate town this hotel suits its needs and it seems to strive to meet the demands of a varied clientele. It is a converted 18th century manor house and still retains many historical touches. It has a secluded feel, surrounded as it is by gardens. Fifty bedrooms are located here including family rooms, and new conference facilities and a leisure centre have been recently added. Roscommon is a small town with a large range of facilities. However, as only two are located in or near the town, book in advance, especially during peak season. The Horse and Jockey Inn has 29 rooms all fitted to a good standard. It is conveniently located on the main Cork/Dublin road. The Anner Hotel is a mid-sized hotel which emphasizes its service and friendly staff. Thurles is a market town located to the north of Cashel. Carraig Hotel-Hotel in Carrick-on-Suir Tipperary

Carraig Hotel is the only hotel in Carrick-on-Suir. It is, however, of reasonable price and has been awarded a three star rating. Located on the main street, it provides a convenient base from which to explore the town. Prior booking is highly recommended as the hotel has only 24 suites. If not, Carrick-on-Suir also has some excellent guesthouses. Carrick-on-Suir is a town located partly in Tipperary and partly Waterford though its official address is the former. A highlight of any visit is the Tipperary Crystal Shop, which is located here. Fishing, golfing and horseriding are also excellent ways of taking in the beauty of the town’s surrounds.
