Shannon Oaks Hotel and Country Club is the only hotel in Portumna, however, it is a reliable three star hotel of quality. The hotel is a mid-sized manor house, with 63 guestrooms, which has been beautifully renovated. Two bars and a restaurant are located inside while its exterior is enhanced by its proximity to the Earls of Clanricarde estate. Portumna is beautifully located on the shores of Lough Derg. A good way of exploring its scenery is to follow the walking trail of the Portumna Forest Park. Angling and horse riding are popular pursuits in the area.
